The beginnings: Royal Enfield traces its roots to the town of Redditch in England, where it was founded in 1901 by George Townsend and Robert Smith. Initially, the company produced bicycles and components for them.

Entering the motorcycle industry: In 1901, Royal Enfield launched its first motorcycle, powered by a 1.5 hp Minerva engine with chain drive. In the years that followed, the model range diversified and Royal Enfield became a respected name in the motorcycle world.

The wartime period: During the First World War, Royal Enfield produced motorcycles for the army, further strengthening the company’s reputation for reliability and durability.

The legendary Bullet: In 1932, Royal Enfield launched the Bullet, which would become one of the most iconic and longest-running models in motorcycle history. The Bullet gained popularity and was used in various applications, including as a military motorcycle.

Expansion in India: In the 1950s, Royal Enfield began expanding its operations in India, where it became extremely popular. In 1955, production of Royal Enfield motorcycles was taken over by Enfield India, and Royal Enfield later became known for its high-quality motorcycles that remained faithful to classic design and technology.

The twenty-first-century revival: Beginning in the 2000s, Royal Enfield experienced an impressive revival. Significant investment in development and design led to the launch of new and modernised models while preserving the charm and distinctive character of classic motorcycles.

Over the years, Royal Enfield has evolved from a small factory in England into an iconic name in the motorcycle world, continuing to inspire and delight riders around the globe with its elegant and reliable models.
